ContentWatch Reviewed

In today’s modern world, it’s always normal to have more than one computer at the house. I have one for the family to use and another is the laptop that I use for work purposes.

The Internet is a big place. But what you and I might realize is that there’s a lot of stuff that can be easily accessible to children.

When my kids use the computer, I usually am there supervising them. Of course, they’ll play games on there and I’ll leave them alone.

ContentWatch

But what if they end up somewhere they shouldn’t be? Isn’t there a program where I am able to control what they can see and what they cannot?

So I did some research and came across ContentWatch. Knowing what I know now, I’m really glad I took the chance to get it for my home computer.

ContentWatch Features

  • Ability to filter image and video content that may not be appropriate for children.
  • Allows you to apply Internet usage policies on applicable devices like computers and smartphones.
  • Easy to access administrative reporting that can be found right on the web.
  • Email alerts sent right to your inbox in the event of a policy breach or change in filter requests.
  • The ability to customize and set the rules your way so your children stay safe online and your employees don’t waste time.

Content Filtering

This is one of my favorite features and for good reason. Since I have young children at home that use the same desktop computer I do, I want to make sure they surf the web safely.

Thankfully, they’re only interested in playing games and watching kid-friendly videos on YouTube. But I want to make sure that I have my bases covered.

ContentWatch

ContentWatch will block out any images and videos that are considered inappropriate for any children. This way, they won’t have to come across anything that I won’t find out sooner or later when it pops up in my browser history.

With this feature, I am able to determine what can be seen and what can’t be. It’s great to have the power in your hands.

But I do this because things can happen on the Internet and not in a good way.

Compatible with Pcs and Smartphones

These days, kids are actually getting smartphones and will quickly know their ways around them. I have an older child that has a smartphone.

Before you come down on me because of it, we make sure that we monitor their activity. We do this because we care about their safety.

The good thing about Content Watch is that it’s great for PCs and Smartphones too. If you have an Android or an iPhone, you can easily install this and feel a bit more comfortable knowing that your kids can surf the web on your phone when you are on the go (and safely).

Real-Time Content Filtering

Here’s something you might want to know about ContentWatch. I don’t use it at home.

I actually use ContentWatch at the office. Since I supervise a small staff, they are usually working on their workstation computers.

What I noticed before ContentWatch is that half of my staff’s productivity was suffering. And what I found out was that they were spending half their time online instead of getting the work done.

I was able to install ContentWatch on the computers at work and the productivity shot right up. Plus, I can be able to filter the content in real-time.

If you run a business or have staff members that will be on computers day in and day out, you’ll need software that will block out any time-sucking content or websites. ContentWatch is the only program I trust in this regard.

Remote Management -- Anytime, Anywhere

See, I don’t have to be at the office or at home to control the settings. All I have to do is access them on a computer and be able to control the settings and monitor what’s being viewed.

That’s because the administration console is web-based and all of your data is stored in the cloud. I won’t need a dedicated computer to view all of it.

I can check on reports as far as Internet activity goes and be able to program content settings on my laptop when I am away on business. Plus, it’s a lot better than placing that trust in someone else.

Even better, I can terminate Internet access to any of my home or work computers if I feel it’s necessary. I’m quite impressed with this feature knowing I can do all of this at any given time or place.

Email Alerts

To keep me a step ahead of the game, I can be notified of any activity that might violate the terms and conditions that I set. And when I do, I’ll know which computer it came from.

A lot better than having to find out sooner than later or never at all. If the rules or settings are being violated, I can be able to terminate Internet access if I choose.

Instant Messaging Management

At work, I love to see communication between myself and my employees. I also like to see great communication between one co-worker with another.

I can be able to manage and view the IMs sent between each other anytime I want to. Plus, I can be able to grant or deny access to any messenger related apps.

All it takes is determining it in your custom policy and you can set it to however you want.

Disables Game and Gambling Sites

What’s the difference between my home computer and the computers at work? You can play games on one of them.

My kids will usually play games that are fun and entertaining. But at the office, it’s all work and not so much more play.

That’s because these games can be a major time suck and can kill productivity. So I can control whether or not you can play games or not on office computers.

Plus, I block the gambling sites on both home and work computers since it’s not really appropriate for kids and for those at work.

p2p Management

Last but not least, I really want to keep track of what’s being downloaded on my computer. These days, a lot of people rely on downloading stuff from P2P sites.

And who knows what kind of bad stuff you can get from downloading such files? Both my home and office computers are denied having that ability.

Plus, I don’t want my workers to download pirated files on my office computers. Not only is piracy illegal, but those files could be riddled with viruses, malware, and spyware.

Pros

  • Easy to install.
  • Gives you a lot of free reign on what you can control in terms of content.
  • Perfect for home and office computers.
  • Easily can give you control anytime, anywhere.
  • Reasonably priced.

Cons

  • May block websites that might be needed for work purposes.

Final Verdict

If you want a great solution to control Internet activity in your home or office, then ContentWatch might just be what you need. I am so relieved knowing that I can use a good program that will get me to control Internet access at my home or office.

Plus, since it utilized web and cloud-based technology using it is a lot easier. I don’t know what I would do without it.

If you have concerns about what might go on at home or at the office when it comes to Internet activity, you’d be hard-pressed to find a program quite like ContentWatch.
